Rehearsals in Vancouver, 9 May 2017
U2 continued rehearsals in Vancouver today, though not to the same extent as some previous days. Our thanks for info and feeds to jimyc on Interference and, on Twitter, Bjorn and Vid. In the afternoon, various little bits and pieces of songs were soundchecked. It is not clear if this was by the techs or (some of) the band. A full version of Elevation was heard; some fans think it might have been from tape, but the evening session suggests this might have been live.
In the evening the band began a very late rehearsal. Initially it appeared this would be a quick rehearsal, but it became lengthy. The band reached the 11pm curfew, at which point they turned down the volume significantly and continued playing. Initially it seemed like they had stopped One Tree Hill abruptly at the end of the first verse, but the song was done in full.
The full list of songs soundchecked in the evening session was:
- Transition from Pride to Where the Streets Have No Name at least three times
- Bullet the Blue Sky
- Running to Stand Still (followed by a couple of minutes' break)
- Running to Stand Still again
- Red Hill Mining Town
- In God's Country
- Trip Through Your Wires
- One Tree Hill
- Mothers of the Disappeared
- Beautiful Day
- Beautiful Day again
It is possible the band rehearsed something more after the second Beautiful Day but by this point any audio was too quiet to discern anything. The rehearsal of Elevation makes it the 22nd song confirmed to have been rehearsed in Vancouver.
