U2 announce second Croke Park concert

(IOL.ie) -- U2 will play a second show in the heart of Dublin city this summer, the band confirmed today.

Bono and bandmates revealed they would host two concerts at Croke Park, which fits almost 80,000 people, due to the phenomenal demand for tickets for the original gig.

The group will rock the giant Gaelic games stadium on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 as part of their highly anticipated Vertigo 2005 world tour.

Tickets for both concerts go on sale at 8am this Friday priced at €59.50, €70 and €80.

But dedicated fans have already flooded U2’s members-only presale service on the internet to beat the queues and secure valuable tickets for the shows.

Promoters MCD have warned fans the rush for tickets will be an absolute lottery as they go on sale simultaneously around the country this Friday. Each fan can buy only four tickets.

U2’s 11th album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, has sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide since it was released last November.

The tour will take in 13 North American cities. The 24 European dates will take in some of the biggest venues, including the Stade de France in Paris, the San Siro in Milan, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
