Recent U2 Happenings

After months of no live activity and the postponement of the forthcoming album to early 2009, some events have finally taken place in the U2 world. Specifically, Bono and Edge have been on the road a little, making two appearances in California.

The first appearance took place on the 16th of October. The restaurant Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay hosted a private party and annual meeting for Elevation Partners, a firm Bono helped found. Bono spoke to an audience of approximately 100 employees, partners, and investors, relating the creative process of writing music to running a business. Reports indicate Bono and Edge then played a couple of unreleased songs, but no further details are known at this stage.

The second appearance took place on the 26th of October at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. During BB King's set at the Monk Institute of Jazz's annual Thelonious Monk Gala, Bono and Edge appeared on stage. They joined BB for a performance of When Love Comes To Town - although BB plays the song live regularly to this day, no members of U2 have been involved in a performance of the song since the band played it on 28 August 1993 in Dublin. The first half of the song was performed in U2's rock style before transitioning to an arrangement that BB has used recently. Afterwards, other Gala performers joined Bono, Edge, and BB for a cover of Let The Good Times Roll.
