U2 performed their second New York area show today, across the state border at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It was the last second night concert of the tour for 2009; all the remaining cities on the tour itinerary receive just one gig each. This show was actually meant to be the first New York gig until the gig scheduled for 25/09 was moved to 23/09. The band's soundcheck earlier today included Elevation and, as reported by the U2Start crew, Mofo. Don't get too excited just yet, though - Mofo was soundchecked multiple times on the Vertigo Tour's third leg and didn't appear live. It was not played today, but as at the last couple of shows, Bono snippeted the Mofo lyric "still looking for the face I had before the world was made" at the start of City Of Blinding Lights.

The band mixed up the order of the start of the set, although they stuck with songs that have been standard inclusions. The opening barrage of four songs from No Line On The Horizon has now been decidedly broken; just two opened, with Get On Your Boots moved up to second. The title track and Magnificent moved to fifth and sixth, with Mysterious Ways and Beautiful Day in between. Mysterious Ways has never been played earlier than third in the setlist, appearing in third just once before - 7 March 1992, Hampton. Beautiful Day's position of fourth is the earliest it has been played this tour, and it was performed without the extended Celtic intro. Mysterious Ways still lacks its signature extended solo, which has not been played all tour.

Magnificent's position of sixth is the latest it has been in a setlist, but the rest of the set was pretty standard. After missing yesterday's show, Unknown Caller was restored to its usual place. Until The End Of The World and Stay were rotated into the set before The Unforgettable Fire. Bono flubbed the lyrics of Stay; he sung the second verse first, then paused for a bit, sung the first verse second, and then did the second verse again before continuing with the song as normal. The show also features a lot of snippets of Rolling Stones songs, as Mick Jagger is in attendance. At the end of Crazy Tonight, Bono seems to be intending to snippet Rocks Off by the Rolling Stones, but ends up singing a lyric from Rocks by Primal Scream instead.
