Third U2 show added in La Plata
Yes, after lengthy speculation and fears it would not happen, a third show has been confirmed for La Plata, Argentina. This show will take place on 3 April 2011. Like at the other South American shows, support will be provided by Muse.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, 19 January 2011. There will be two presales. The first is for U2.com subscribers and it will run from 10am on Monday, 17 January through to 10pm that night; that's right, it will be only 12 hours. Banco Frances customers get an even shorter ten hour presale window the next day, Tuesday the 18th, from 10am through to 8pm.
This is the second time U2 have performed three shows in Argentina on a single tour. On Vertigo, they did just two shows in Buenos Aires, but on their first visit to Argentina on Popmart, they did three in Buenos Aires: 5, 6, and 7 February 1998. That was also the third-last time U2 have played three full shows in three nights; the two subsequent occasions were both on the Elevation Tour's third leg.
Will there be any more shows in South America? This is probably all for Argentina, but there remain rumours about extra Chilean and Brazilian shows. It is hard to say anything with certainty right now, unfortunately. We'll keep you updated when news breaks or if any more solid rumours surface.
