A round-up of U2's upcoming promo appearances

Today is a very exciting day for U2 fans - it marks the start of U2's performances live on television and radio to promote Songs of Innocence. After playing "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)" over a month ago at the album's announcement on 9 September 2014, the band have kept out of the live arena, giving interviews but not performances. However, the next couple of weeks will be busy. U2 have reportedly been rehearsing this past week in France, and we will soon see the fruits of those rehearsals.

The performances announced so far are:

Today, Sunday the 12th: Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, broadcast on RAI3. (Update: show report here.)
Tuesday the 14th: French TV show Le Grand Journal, broadcast on Canal+.
Wednesday the 15th: Jo Whiley's radio show on Britain's BBC Radio 2. This performance will be an acoustic set featuring at least three new songs and one old track.
Friday the 17th: British TV show The Graham Norton Show, broadcast on BBC One. This is billed specifically as a performance of "The Miracle".
Tuesday the 21st: Another British TV appearance, this time on BBC Two on the long-running show Later... With Jools Holland.
Friday the 24th: An acoustic set for 200 fans, broadcast on German radio in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Some of these performances are billed as acoustic, but it is as yet unknown whether the rest will be as well or if some will be full electric performances. It was obvious U2 would perform lead single "The Miracle" even before Graham Norton's promo material made it explicit, but it will be interesting to see what other new songs will be performed. "Every Breaking Wave" seems like a safe bet to me, ready to increase its number of performances from three back in 2010. Any other songs played from Songs of Innocence will be live debuts. And what will U2 choose for older tracks? In a setting like this they will choose big familiar hits - but U2 have a lot of those!

We here at U2gigs will keep you up to date with all information. Hopefully some more promotional dates will be revealed soon too, and when they are you can find the news here.
