Rehearsals in Vancouver, 3 May 2017
Day 2 of U2's rehearsals included two new songs, one a shocker that is liable to give our resident historian a heart attack. As usual the rehearsals were broken up into several groupings with lengthy breaks in between. All of today's songs, including a full set at the end of the night, are below the jump.
The day began with a run-through of four songs: Running to Stand Still, Red Hill Mining Town, Miss Sarajevo, and Mothers of the Disappeared. A note on Miss Sarajevo that we missed yesterday: at the moment Bono is not singing Pavarotti's lyrics as he did on the Vertigo and 360 tours. Instead a recording of Pavarotti is being used.
After a lengthy break the band resumed with One Tree Hill, followed by Pride (guitar only) and Miss Sarajevo (not full band). This was followed with Miss Sarajevo again, this time by the full band and restarted multiple times, and then the new song we reported on yesterday, believed to be called The Little Things That Give You Away. The next song was the shocker: A Sort of Homecoming, which has only been performed twice since 1987, was rehearsed at least four times. A clip of it can be heard here courtesy of _Phelix on Twitter..
After a lengthy break, U2 returned to the stage and ran through a potential setlist, with a very enthusiastic crowd cheering on the sidewalks outside! Lighting effects continued after the final song, but the audio seems to have been cut; given that yesterday this slot was apparently a new song, U2 may be hoping to avoid any more leaks of it. Here's the set:
- A Sort of Homecoming
- Sunday Bloody Sunday
- New Year's Day (stopped and restarted)
- Where the Streets Have No Name
- I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
- With or Without You
- Bullet the Blue Sky
- Running to Stand Still
- Red Hill Mining Town
- In God's Country
- Trip Through Your Wires
- One Tree Hill
- Exit / Van Morrison's Gloria (snippet)
- Mothers of the Disappeared
- Beautiful Day
- Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
- Miss Sarajevo
