New U2 album: No Line On The Horizon

Over four years after the release of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb in November 2004, U2 are finally returning with a new album, No Line On The Horizon. The release date is 2 March 2009, or 3 March 2009 in the USA. It will incorporate music written and recorded over the last two years at sessions in Fez, Dublin, New York, and London. Familiar faces Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois return as producers, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite. No mention is made of the sessions in 2006 with Rick Rubin that produced The Saints Are Coming, Window In The Skies, and a number of unreleased songs.

The album's tracklisting remains unknown at present. The lead single's title and release date are also yet to be announced. Beautiful Day and Vertigo, this decade's other lead singles, preceded their respective albums by two whole months. Thus the lead single's release is likely to be in early to mid-January, as some Internet rumours have suggested. Of course, this assumes that U2 will continue to follow a traditional release schedule in a world of changing distribution methods.
