U2 to play Saturday Night Live
It has been announced today that U2 are to play on the first episode of the 35th season of Saturday Night Live. This performance will take place on 26 September 2009, a couple of nights after U2's two concerts at Giants Stadium.
This marks the third time U2 have appeared on Saturday Night Live. The first time was in promotion of All That You Can't Leave Behind; the band performed two songs from it on 9 December 2000. The second appearance was to promote How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb; it took place on 20 November 2004 just days before the album's release and featured three new songs (including the earliest instance of Vertigo x2) and I Will Follow.
