U2 release new song The Blackout
Today U2 have made public the first song from their next album, Songs of Experience. It's called The Blackout. We've already had live performances of The Little Things That Give You Away earlier in the year, but this is a proper album track, mixed and mastered, though presented with a "live" video (including crowd noise) filmed on 28 July 2017 in Amsterdam.
You can listen to the new song over on Facebook. Early reaction on social media and fan forums appears to be quite positive. Adam's prominent bass and the distorted intro have met with particular praise. You will hopefully agree our sources from the film shoot in July gave some accurate tidbits about the song for our report on that evening.
U2 will be releasing another song next week, which they are billing as a traditional first single for the album. It is called "You're the Best Thing About Me" and it's out on 6 September. That same day, they will release details about the forthcoming album.
Before then, of course, U2 wil be resuming the Joshua Tree Tour 2017 in Detroit on 3 September. Will they play The Blackout or Best Thing? Stay tuned!
