Today, U2 are performing their second of three German concerts for 2010. This show is in Hannover, a city that U2 have previously played in just once before. That show was almost exactly thirteen years ago, when Popmart rolled into town on 20 August 1997.
The setlist in Hannover was almost identical to that played in Frankfurt two nights ago. New songs Return Of The Stingray Guitar and Glastonbury remained in the setlist; the order of Elevation, I Still Haven't Found, and Glastonbury in the middle of the main set was slightly changed from Frankfurt. Before I Still Haven't Found, Bono gave an unusual speech partly in an alien voice and introduced the band as Star Wars characters. Happy Birthday was sung near the end of the show for Wim Wenders, who was at the gig and will be celebrating his 55th birthday in a couple of days. Moment Of Surrender was dedicated to Hannover and German soccer player Robert Enke, who committed suicide last year.
