U2 to visit Winnipeg in 2011?

Remember earlier this week, when U2.com accidentally announced that there would be a gig in Baltimore on 22 June 2011? Guess what. Another date has been leaked by an official source.

In the press package provided by Big Concerts, the promoter of U2's concerts in South Africa that were just announced, there is a full 360° Tour itinerary. It correctly includes all past dates and all announced future dates ... and one more.

The unannounced show is 29 May 2011 at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is the same venue U2 used on their sole previous visit to Winnipeg on 12 June 1997 during the Popmart Tour. It is perhaps fitting that Big Concerts leaked this date, as they are promoting U2 concerts in two other cities that U2 previously had also only visited on Popmart.

Keep in mind, however, that this Winnipeg date is not confirmed. Like the previously leaked Baltimore date, it does stand a good chance of actually happening, but don't mark it down on your calendar just yet. If Big Concerts' press package is correct, though, we'll know soon: a note beside the listing says tickets will go on sale on 25 October, i.e. Monday next week. If so, U2.com will have to confirm the show in the next few days.

Update: One radio station in Winnipeg, 92 CITI FM, has already announced the concert on their website's concerts section and is promoting a competition to win tickets. Their information echoes that above regarding the date and venue of the concert and the date of ticket sales. It adds further information that tickets will be the usual prices (i.e. from $30 to $250) and sold via Ticketmaster Canada, and that the support act will be The Fray. We emphasise that this information remains unofficial and unconfirmed.

Update 2: The Winnipeg date now also shows up on Ticketmaster.ca. Presale starts Wednesday, 20 October. There is still nothing on U2.com at the time of this update.
