Today, U2 performed in Oakland. During the speechifying before All I Want Is You, Bono got Edge to tell the crowd about how he and Larry went drinking the previous night with Metallica and Green Day. Edge emphasised that he can remember "at least the first hour" of proceedings, and that the musicians (jokingly?) discussed a festival involving the three bands. Larry then sung a few lines of Lou Reed's Perfect Day, before Bono led the audience in singing Happy Birthday for his friend John. Only after that did they move onto All I Want Is You.
