Confirmation of second Milan gig, more sale dates, and support acts

A Live Nation press release provides a lot of interesting news about the upcoming tour. Below are the key points.

Extra show in Milan: A second show at San Siro has been confirmed for 8 July 2009.

More European general sale dates: Tickets to the following concerts will go on general sale on 20 March 2009:

· 2009-07-08 - Milan, Italy - San Siro
· 2009-07-11 - Paris, France - Stade de France
· 2009-07-15 - Nice, France - Parc des Sports Charles Ehrmann
· 2009-07-24 - Dublin, Ireland - Croke Park
· 2009-07-25 - Dublin, Ireland - Croke Park
· 2009-08-06 - Chorzow, Poland - Slaski Stadium
· 2009-08-14 - London, England - Wembley Stadium
· 2009-08-18 - Glasgow, Scotland - Hampden Park
· 2009-08-20 - Sheffield, England - Don Valley Stadium
· 2009-08-22 - Cardiff, Wales - Millennium Stadium

Although no news has been forthcoming from U2.com, it is probable that the fanclub presales for these concerts will begin on 17 March for Horizon subscribers, the morning of 18 March for Breathe subscribers, and the afternoon of 18 March for Boots subscribers. (Update: U2.com now has a short article about the upcoming sales that mentions they will be "e-mailing all our U2.com subscribers in advance with details of their presale access which begins tomorrow [i.e. 17 March].")

Support acts: Snow Patrol will support in Milan, Nice, Gothenburg, and Chorzow. Kaiser Chiefs will support in Paris and the second Dublin show. Glasvegas will support at the first Dublin gig, Glasgow, and Cardiff. Elbow will support in London and Sheffield.

Gelsenkirchen: The Gelsenkirchen concert was initially announced for 3 August on U2.com and then quietly removed. The press release says that there will be a Gelsenkirchen concert. No date is specified.

Raleigh: Ever since U2.com quietly removed all but the first four North American concert dates from their tour page, they have provided a list of cities the band will play in, but Raleigh is absent from this list despite appearing in the removed itinerary. Comfortingly for fans who wish to attend this show, the Live Nation press release includes Raleigh in its list of North American cities that the tour will visit.
