U2's London #1 setlist, 08/07/17

Today is the opening of the second leg of The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, with the first of two concerts at Twickenham Stadium in London. The last time U2 actually opened a tour leg in London was all the way back in December 1981 when they played two concerts to open the third leg of the October Tour! Excepting last night's dress rehearsal, U2 have not performed at Twickenham since a two-night stand on the Vertigo Tour concluded on 19 June 2005. A portion of the previous day's concert was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. They have not played a stadium concert in London since a 15 August 2009 performance at Wembley Stadium, though they did a mammoth 6 arena shows at the O2 on the second leg of Innocence + Experience.

The largest surprise of the night was when Bono revealed that Adam and his wife, Mariana, are expecting a child (Congratulations)! The setlist was largely unchanged from the first leg of the tour. Mysterious Ways was dropped after being performed at the final two concerts in North America, while The Little Things returned at the end. Happy Birthday was sung for Eve Hewson. The largest surprise in terms of songs was the cover of the Oasis song Don't Look Back in Anger, performed with Noel Gallagher (who opened for U2) on stage to close out the night. The most noticeable changes were visual. Many of the women who are shown on screen during Ultraviolet were updated for the European shows, including the additions of Anne Frank, poitician Jo Cox, MENCAP campaigner Ciara Lawrence, actress Emma Watson, and comedian Sandy Toksvig. U2Songs has a constantly updated list of the changes. In addition, the video of Omaima before Miss Sarajevo reverted to the one shown in Canada. The Walter Trump clip from Trackdown remained before Exit.
