Pretend U2's Dublin setlist, 06/08

We would love to know your thoughts on our fake concert! Send us a tweet or comment below!

Tonight, a pretend 360 Tour gig happened in Dublin! Tickets were not available; fake invitations were sent to U2 fans all over the world for this private gig with the 360 tour staging. It is set to go off at midnight, Dublin time, and after a few weeks break since the concert in Moncton, U2 have been busily rehearsing all day to craft an awesome setlist! Songs that were fake rehearsed include Beautiful Day, One, New Year's Day, return of the Stingray Guitar, Pride, Mercy, North Star, Scarlet, Bullet the Blue Sky, Even Better Than the Real Thing, and an unknown song that had Edge on lead vocals!

The Corrs have finished their opening set. Bono joined them on stage for two songs: When the Stars Go Blue and Summer Wine. Elvis Costello was the second act to take the stage. He performed a cover of Dirty Day, Pump it Up with The Edge and Adam (with a funky snippet of Boots at the end), and a cover of Please. Then, in a surprise debut, the Larry Mullen band took the stage for the first time ever! Consisting entirely of Larry with a microphone and djembe, he sang Wild Rover, Whiskey in the Jar, and Tequila Sunrise.

Then it was U2's turn; and while the setlist resembled that of the last leg of the 360 tour, there were some definite surprises. As the clock chimed midnight Bono sang the chorus from Lemon over the closing strains of Space Oddity. Mofo opened the show, played for the first time since 1998, and along with Lemon it contained a snippet of Do You Feel Loved. REM's Michael Stipe joined U2 on stage for One, and he alternated verses with Bono. A snippet of It's The End of the World as We Know It was dedicated to REM at the end of Streets, and then I Will Follow was dedicated to the subscribers of U2.com. Out of Control followed in a rare one-two Boy punch, and it was dedicated to U2's fans. The band introduction featured comparisons to The Big Bang Theory; Larry was sensible Leonard, Adam was the exotic Raj, Edge the technical Howard, and Bono the star attraction (and slightly insane) Sheldon. Stay and Stuck were played as a medley, half of each song. Another guest star appeared next; Lee Dewyze playing an acoustic Beautiful Day with the band. Snippets of The Maker and Here Comes the Sun were dedicated to Steve Jobs, as was Miss Sarajevo later in the set. One of the biggest surprises of the night came during All I Want Is You. Edge took lead vocals while Bono contented himself on backup. This was followed by a rare snippet of Van Diemen's Land. The Fly made a surprise midset appearance after Vertigo; even more surprising were the snippets of Lady With the Spinning Head and Zoo Station! All Because of You was next in its first appearance since the Vertigo Tour. An acoustic verse of Electrical Storm preceeded full band Walk On; due to the length, we are considering it a snippet. The snippet of You'll Never Walk Alone was, surprisingly, spoken by Adam. More surprises came right at the end; With or Without You contained a snippet of Love is Blindness, and Bad, the final song of the night, had snippets of The First Time and So Cruel.

The full fake set was as follows:

1. Lemon (snippet) / Mofo / Do You Feel Loved (snippet)

This event is not real. There was no concert in Dublin tonight; and if there was, U2 didn't play it! After the 360 Tour ended in Moncton, we received a lot of tweets wishing for a fake setlist to relive the thrill of live tweeting during the tour all over again. This is that setlist. It is not a real event.

Thanks to EdgeFest, StrongGirl, Matthias, Axver, Bajagirl, and Santiago2u for agreeing in their various capacities to participate, and for letting me run it here on U2Gigs. Also a BIG thanks to everyone who has joined in the fun with tweets of their own; it couldn't have been done without all of you fake being at the venue. And speaking of the venue, I think it is absolutely awesome that the fans came together and picked Aviva Stadium while I wasn't even at the computer! It's fantastic to see how much everyone is joining in with the fun; just goes to show how much we all love the band and miss seeing them live!

We hope that you enjoyed the fun!
