U2's Dallas setlist, 26/05

Today U2 performed their Dallas/Fort Worth-area show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. This is the same venue they played on 12 October 2009, not long after it opened, on their most recent previous visit to Texas.

The order of the setlist has been shaken up a little again. This mainly occurred in the encore, but Bad returned to the pre-Joshua Tree portion of the setlist after being played in the encore at the last three shows. Tonight it was played third, the earliest it has ever been performed at a regular tour gig, beating the record of fourth it set for the first time two weeks ago in Seattle.

Another notable fact about Bad is that it has now been played at six shows in a row. This is very rare, despite its status among fans as a definitive live U2 song. It was done at the last five shows of the IE Tour's second leg in 2015, but to find a streak of six you have to go back to the last six shows of Elevation's third leg in 2001.

Bono preceded One Tree Hill with a short speech. He began by trying to remember the first venue U2 played in Dallas—he namechecked Club Foot, realising it was in Austin (the location of a show on 31 March 1981), and then he got it right: the Bijou, which U2 played on 2 April 1981. He quipped that "Adam doesn't remember the eighties", and then began reminiscing about U2's first tour to New Zealand in 1984, when they met Greg Carroll. "He was a friend, a comrade", Bono said, and after Greg died "we wrote this song for him".

Later in the show, Ultra Violet and One moved up the setlist to join Miss Sarajevo at the start of the encore. A second encore break was written on the printed setlist after One but the band did not take it and went into Beautiful Day. Elevation's performance as 20th song of the night is the latest it has ever been played at a show, beating its previous record of 18th at five of the six previous shows on this tour.

The printed setlist gave unreleased song The Little Things That Give You Away as the last song, but U2 decided to play I Will Follow instead. This is the third performance of I Will Follow this tour; all three have not been listed on the printed set.
