U2's Turin rehearsals, Tuesday 03/08

U2 continued their rehearsals in Turin today. They did two sessions - one in the early evening from about 6pm, and after a break, they resumed around 10pm, concluding at 11:10pm. The new uptempo song and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me were both rehearsed again, and a number of last year's staples were rehearsed in Turin for the first time today - namely MLK, Walk On, and One.

At the earlier session, the following songs were rehearsed:
Beautiful Day
In A Little While
Crazy Tonight remix / Discothèque (snippet)
Miss Sarajevo
Until The End Of The World
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

YouTube footage of four songs from this rehearsal can be heard at the end of this article.

The later session had a lengthier setlist. Interestingly and confusingly, there is some discrepancy between the live setlist reports made on fan forums, and the report posted on U2Place. Below is the extended setlist that was reported live on forums; U2Place does not include the intro or first two songs, places MLK after Walk On, and reports Walk On was rehearsed twice.

Update: Subsequent recordings from this session confirm the extended setlist. Listen here.

Space Oddity intro
New uptempo "flowering rose of Glastonbury" song
Beautiful Day
MLK
Walk On / You'll Never Walk Alone (snippet)
Desmond Tutu video / One
Amazing Grace (snippet) / Where The Streets Have No Name
--- "Encore break" and Zoo Baby intro ---
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
With Or Without You
Moment of Surrender

It is worth noting that the later set, from MLK to the conclusion, looks like a continuation of the skeletal concert setlist rehearsed Monday night. It follows the 2009 setlist format closely, although with only 19 songs it is clearly not yet fully formed. Did U2 actually intend to rehearse longer last night? We don't know, but according to this article (in Italian) from La Stampa, the concert promoters have been fined €1,000 for excessive noise. This is just the latest chapter in the ongoing saga between the promoters and city officials - see the third paragraph here.

As mentioned above, there are already four videos online from the earlier of today's two rehearsals. You can watch them all below.

In A Little While - which sounds like it has an astronaut cameo in the vein of last year's Your Blue Room performances:

Miss Sarajevo:

Until The End Of The World:

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me:

There is also footage of Until The End Of The World from Monday night:

To conclude, U2.com has posted their day 3 video. It features just Larry Mullen, and given the content of the footage, you would think the backing music would be Crazy Tonight - but instead it's Love And Peace Or Else, a song not even played this tour. Curious.
