U2's Omaha setlist, 19/05/18

U2 performed in Omaha today. This was just their second concert in the state of Nebraska; the first, also in Omaha, took place on 15 December 2005. Bono has also sung at three non-tour events in Nebraska, two of which actually took place before U2 had ever played in the state; you can access them from our Nebraska listing.

Gloria returned to the setlist after missing one show. It seems fitting that Omaha gets it: Gloria's run of six consecutive shows in 2005 ended the night before they came to Nebraska. This performance is notable as Gloria has now regained the title of most-played song from the album October. The title track October had taken that crown in 2015. Gloria now has 384 known performances to October's 383; there are a number of missing setlists for the band's tours in the early 1980s so both songs will have been performed more than that.

Raised By Wolves did not appear in the setlist for the second time this tour, the first instance being in St Louis on 4 May. The video introduction for Wolves was still played, then Larry continued with the Sunday Bloody Sunday drumming until the guitar of Until the End of the World began. Bono did his Psalm 23 snippet, usually a link from the end of Wolves, over the intro of Until the End of the World.

Bono has been doing band introductions during Desire most nights this tour, including a description of Larry as "the company of thunder" and Adam as a stylish and suave earthquake. Edge has been "an intensity of white light", and Bono expanded on this tonight: "an intensity of white light so bright that Kim Jong-Un thinks of him as a WMD ... a weapon of mass devotion, The Edge!"

In the encore, Bono spoke about the school shooting tragedy in Santa Fe, Texas. He described U2 as "friends and fans" of the US and underscored that "this gun stuff confuses us". "You've got to look at this and sort it out. We don't know what the solution is, but we believe in you to find it." He then dedicated the closing number, 13 (There Is a Light), to the high school students.

The setlist clocked in with 24 songs. This is, by one song, the shortest set of the tour so far.

The full setlist was:
