Longtime U2 tour manager Dennis Sheehan passed away last night http://www.u2.com/news/t…
@ChikaLakerz It’s only for photos
@samwilbur Yeah I’m surprised both of the last two shows have had just 23 songs.
@dghickey Not at all! I figured it would stick around in every show from here to eternity.
Me too. But I’m betting ISHFWILF, if there is a 24th song. https://twitter.com/ryan…
@pappy90 I strongly dislike parts of October/War. HATE Stand Up Comedy, Trip Through Your Wires, Red Hill Mining Town. I don’t love it all
21. City Of Blinding Lights #U2ieTour
And that’s it for the main set. I (Chris) will leave you in Ax’s hands for the encore. Always great following along with you all! Night!
@johnnyo217 One/Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Streets was great. As was One/Hallelujah/Streets, which I almost cried seeing live
@EveryBrokenWave Absolutely convinced. Only if it doesn’t appear at least one night in LA will I start to fear for its fate.
@pappy90 I see a hauntingly beautiful ode to the city I live in and the immigrants who built it. (And yes, I do like Saints)
@johnnyo217 See I think it sounds great, but thematically it doesn’t jive. If anything, cut the speech beforehand (Chris)
@johnnyo217 Hell, that could possibly work if it was part of a seamless COBL-Mother snip-Streets segue. No speechifying!
And I (Chris) agree with Ax. Bullet/Hands/Pride sounds a bit choppy for sure. Far from seemless
20th is With Or Without You #U2ieTour
Beautiful Day with the I Remember You snippet is exactly that… beautiful. #U2ieTour
To go back a song, I feel like Hands/Pride CAN work in theory. Just not really after Bullet. Such an odd pairing.
19th is Beautiful Day, my favorite! #U2ieTour
@Drea104 I was surprised by how Bullet/OSC seemed to potentially work in that rehearsal clip. Can’t be worse than Bullet/Hands/Pride!
@Drea104 I (Ax) badly want them to try Bullet/Troubles, Bullet/OSC, or restore Bullet/RTSS to the set.
@Beckyk1114 I (Chris) love both versions, but the piano version is so beautiful
I’d do just about anything for a full band The Hands That Built America. That intro is a HUGE tease
@DWilbur3 It’s a Paul Hardcastle song, defined by a distinctive “n-n-n-nineteen” that Bono is mimicking.
18th is Pride, preceded by the lengthy The Hands That Built America snippet. #U2ieTour
Brief snippet of 19 in Bullet, per usual.
I (Ax) must dissent from Chris. EBW acoustic does nothing for me. Really want to hear it full band. Would help cover for weak vocal nights.
17. Bullet The Blue Sky #U2ieTour
Every Breaking Wave sounding wonderful, as usual.
Ax, I thought your prediction was crazy at the time!: Chris (*prays for Sweetest Thing at his shows*)
16th is Every Breaking Wave #U2ieTour
Those who know me know how much I LOVE Sweetest Thing. Couldn’t be happier over its unexpected resurrection.
The man onstage is the singer from the Hollywood U2 tribute band.
15th is Sweetest Thing, with a male fan/apparent Bono impersonator onstage. #U2ieTour
God Only Knows snippet
CAL-I-FOR-NIA! I love belting that line out. One of my favorite U2 songs in years!
@leivrr Actually it was La Plata but always advertised as Buenos Aires.
14th is California! #U2ieTour
Young Americans snippet too #U2ieTour
Burning Down The House snippet
Here is my video from the first time EBTTRT opened a 360° showhttps://youtu.be/F5_dnbyppo8x Save it for watching later. So much energy.
@ST_U2 I don’t think I’ve ever been as cold in my life as I was that night
13. Mysterious Ways #U2ieTour
There’s so much more of a rave-like, infectious groove in this version. 360/IE Tour EBTTRT forever!
@TrailerTrsh She also got the photo talent from you :)
@KevinMFeeney He was MUCH better the rehearsal night, which I was at.
EBTTRT always reminds me of the moment when I heard the rehearsal the day it became the new opener for the 360° tour.
Call me crazy, but the 360/IE tour version of EBTTRT is freaking awesome. Much prefer the solo in the intro.
12. Even Better Than The Real Thing #U2ieTour
Having seen the first live play of Invisible, this version kinda disappoints me. I feel a lack of “umph”. Sounds very good tonight though
11. Invisible #U2ieTour
I’ve come to love The Wanderer so much. I’d love to see it performed now and then
@TrailerTrsh That’s a tremendous photo
Intermission time, The Wanderer video and all. #U2ieTour
@NickAskew Kinda surprising, considering it was played on the promo tour
Psalm 23 snippet at the end of Raised By Wolves leads into our 10th song, Until The End Of The World #U2ieTour
@iammarsgirl It sounds spine tingling
@matkertesz I’m not too confident, but who knows. It’s still so early.
Of all the SOI songs, I may be looking forward to Raised By Wolves the most at my NYC shows.
9th is Raised By Wolves. LOVE this song. #U2ieTour
8th is Sunday Bloody Sunday. #U2ieTour
7th was Song For Someone. Had to tuck my significant other into bed, sorry! #U2ieTour
Sixth is Cedarwood Road #U2ieTour
Fifth is Iris (Hold Me Close), after a speech about I Will Follow’s meaning. #U2ieTour
“No city in the world has been kinder to the band than this city. Los Angeles”- Bono #U2ieTour
Fourth is I Will Follow. What an opening barrage of energy. #U2ieTour
Third is Vertigo, with the usual Do You Remember Rock N’ Roll Radio snippet. #U2ieTour
I Can See For Miles snippet in Electric Co. #U2ieTour
@jpstarkey Yes it is.
I know Ax and I agree on this one. THRILLED The Electric Co is back. And it sounds wonderful this tour. #U2ieTour
Second song is The Electric Co!! #U2ieTour
The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) opens the show. #U2ieTour
People Have The Power playing over the PA at The Forum. Show should be starting momentarily. #U2ieTour
@litofpigs Nope, but it should in a few minutes
A handful of celebrities, such as Sean Penn and Cindy Crawford, are reportedly at The Forum to see the show. #U2ieTour
@TheeEdge Absolutely! Top 6 or 7 U2 song for me
In terms of rarities I (Chris) think North And South Of The River, Mercy or New York would be my #1 song to see. Ax’s choice is good though!
Anyway, you’ll mostly be in Chris’s capable hands for today’s show, so I won’t hog your feeds too much. #U2
This is Ax. Wait what? 11 O’clock Tick Tock? ELEVEN O’CLOCK? If it is played… holy shit words can’t describe. I’m a #U2 fan because of it.
@KevinMFeeney It would fit in the Out Of Control/The Electric Co slot. Not as well, but it would fit.
Thinking out loud, maybe U2 are (supposedly) rehearsing 11OCTT and The Ocean to prepare for their intimate theater show Thursday? #U2ieTour
@coolian2 I’ll lean on the pessimistic side and say we get California and that’s about it.
@sb_wreeldeal We’re in the same boat, my friend.
@coolian2 Chris. Sorry to disappoint!
My bad on the 11 O’Clock Tick Tock math (I’m a writer!). It has been played 12 times since the Unforgettable Fire Tour, not 13. #U2ieTour
For what it’s worth, The Ocean’s last KNOWN performance pre-Vertigo was Dec. 15, 1982. Was most likely played at later shows that tour.
The Ocean famously returned for 28 Vertigo Tour plays in 2005 after not being performed since Dec. 15, 1982 on the War Pre-Tour #U2ieTour.
11 O’Clock Tick Tock has been played 13 times since 1985 (UF Tour). 1x-JT Tour, 2x-Lovetown, 2x-ATYCLB promo tour, 7x-Elevation #U2ieTour
Getting ahead of ourselves here, but 11 O’Clock Tick Tock was last played on Aug. 21, 2001. The Ocean’s final play was Dec 9, 2005 #U2ieTour
A reputable fan at the Forum is reporting he heard The Ocean and 11 O’Clock Tick Tock being soundchecked. Can anyone else confirm? #U2ieTour
@robmoynihan Is there any chance it was a studio recording, maybe to test the PA system?
@robmoynihan Do you have audio?
U2 returns to The Forum in LA for the first time since 6/6/86 on the Conspiracy of Hope Tour. I (Chris) will be your host tonight. #U2ieTour
@StartAtlnfinity I’ll be there on the 18th (NYC1), the 26th (NYC5) and the 31st (NYC8)
